Basic training – theatre in everyday care

Health care professionals who experience the effect of living room theatre on clients often want to be able to establish the kind of reciprocal contact that the Veder Method does. That is why Theatre Veder developed a training program in which professionals learn to apply the method as an activity.

In the basic training participants get acquainted with the four steps of the Veder Method: start with 1-on-1 contact, long term memory, short term memory, and finish with 1-on-1 contact. They also learn about the main underlying principles of the Veder Method:
- Validation
- Reminiscence
- Emotion-oriented care
- Neuro-linguistic programming
Participants discuss what these principles mean in everyday practice. Exercises are done that clarify what tuning into the client adds in making contact. Furthermore, participants learn how to apply the Veder Method by making a small theatrical presentation.

At the end of the training participants have gained insight into how the Veder Method can be used to make reciprocal contact with elderly people with memory deficits in a creative manner.
